Sturbridge Covered Bridge Fall foliage, Peak in New England

This fall foliage season has been so far one of the best I’ve seen in years in the northeast.. I have many of these up on my blog at my Jeff Foliage website and in November I will have them up in my online Art and Stock photography website so people can order cards or sets to give as gifts.

Old Sturbridge Village

These shots are from Sturbridge Village a recreated museum in Sturbridge MA. The village is a recreation of a 1838 village with actors/actresses who explain how life in the 1800s was very different from what we experience now.

Many people wish for a simpler time but back then life was a lot harder than it is now… So be careful what you wish for.

I’m on the road up to Vermont to check on color for all you leaf peepers. I will hopefully find some nice shots and get those posted while I’m on the road. I hope you enjoy! I know I do… I mean who can complain, I get paid to blog about my favorite subject, Fall Foliage.
Nothing could be finer than that…

Another shot from the Beaver pond in NH. This morning I hit the road at 4:26AM to travel the 2.5 hours to get to Lincoln NH. I then headed east on route 112 through Woodstock NH and I found this wonderful spot.. More pictures to follow of this day in Northern NH… If you have trouble finding it here is the lat/long (44.0446, -71.7927).

The Beaver pond is a bowl with the walls of the bowl covered in maple and pine trees and all were in color. I then hit the road to photograph some covered bridges…

Swift water covered Bridge

Here is a teaser on my covered bridges so be sure to come visit my New England fall foliage website to see more.  Make sure you note that this is the “Swift Water covered bridge” and not the Swift River bridge which is just outside North Conway NH. The Lat/Long for the Swift Water bridge is: 44.13399, -71.95073.  Here is a link to a google map that will help you find it. Google map to Swift Water covered bridge.  This is just a few minutes past the Beaver pond on route 112 heading west towards the Vermont border.  If you have any questions leave me a note. Also I think the morning is better as the chance for still water is greater before the winds pick up.

Beaver Pond NH

Crows landing on dead tree surrounded by red and orange maple trees

Crows land on dead tree and far hill is aflame with color

This is a view down into the valley below the Beaver Pond on route 112 in NH. It’s just outside Woodstock NH. You come out of the woods above the Pond and there it is below you reflecting the sides of the maple and evergreen bowl around it. All the trees are in color right now and the color is incredible… The normal dates for this area can range from 27 Sept on an early year to 5 Oct on a late year. But on most years if you show up on the 1st of Oct you should have a good showing of color.  Location (lat/long) for the pull out on route 112 is

44.04439, -71.79251. Or as you leave Woodstock heading west set your mileage counter for 3.9 miles and you will find the pullout on your left. Slow down as soon as you see the pond on your left and the turn out will appear very quickly.

I was called a foliage pundit yesterday by the editor of the Newburyport newspaper. I’m moving up in the world… A Pundit… :-)
